Very Nice Classic RPG Ported to the GBA

Chances are, if you don't know the plot of a Lunar RPG, then you won't enjoy the old school classic feel of this game. It is a standard 2d rpg, but it is also so much more than that. Lunar is a classic, spanning multiple platforms and now landing on the GBA. I really enjoy this kind of game, and the fact that it is now available in a portable format just makes me happy.

The story is fairly standard. Boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, girl is kidnapped by a monsterous beastdog, boy searches for girl, girl turns evil and tries to kill everyone in the nearby vicinity, you know the old tale. You especially know the old tale if you have played any of the previous versions of Lunar because nothing has changed. In this, however, lies one of Legend's strongest points. Nothing has changed. It's all there in that tiny cart.

The graphics are nicely drawn, sprite based affairs, well detailed and better looking than should really be expected on a hand-held console. The gameplay mechanics are done well, and there is quite a bit to do and see. It took me about 27 hours to play through Lunar, and it was never boring. It is nice to be able to save anywhere as well.

Overall, Lunar Legend is nothing new, but it is everything that is expected of a Lunar title, and more than I expected on the GBA. Lunar Legend is one of the best rpgs on the GBA, despite it's lack of originality.
